Over 400,000 insured customers have benefited from digital services, reducing medical approval times by up to 75%.
Cairo, October 29, 2024: AXA, a leading insurance company, in collaboration with Yodawy, a digital medical solutions provider, hosted a roundtable to present the latest developments in their strategic partnership. This partnership is part of AXA's strategy to expand and strengthen its presence in Egypt, accelerate the digital transformation of its backend systems, operating models, and overall change management, and is integral to the holistic transformation of both systems and people. AXA aims to form service partnerships that address all healthcare insurance needs and offer advanced solutions to meet the diverse demands of its customers. The roundtable was attended by Omar Shelbaya, CEO of AXA Egypt, and Karim Khashaba, CEO of Yodawy.
The roundtable highlighted AXA Egypt's digital transformation journey, which began with its establishment in 2015. The MyAXA app, launched in 2016, has since been continuously improved with new services and technical support. The app enhances access to electronic medical cards, eliminating paper-based transactions, and allows users to easily submit and track insurance claims. To support this digital transformation, AXA has invested significant efforts into upgrading its core systems, operating models, and overall change management. AXA aims to complete this transformation across all lines of business by the end of 2025.
AXA’s digital transformation efforts have extended to its partnership with Yodawy, a key partner in the digital health transformation. This cooperation aims to digitize medical services, improve efficiency, and provide a seamless customer experience. The partnership with Yodawy began with medicine delivery and has since evolved into a digital collaboration focused on improving operational efficiency and enhancing the customer experience by simplifying and digitizing the approval processes for medical services.
Recently, AXA and Yodawy have worked closely to develop internal technological systems for medical service providers and customers, alongside organizing training programs and workshops for staff to maximize the benefits of the offered services. This cooperation also aims to support customers by enabling electronic and immediate submission of medical claims and approvals, significantly reducing approval times and enhancing customer satisfaction through streamlined digital transactions, contributing to a more sustainable environment by reducing paper use.
Since the start of the year, the partnership has led to major efficiency improvements, with over 959,000 transactions and more than 400,000 insured customers benefiting from digital services. Thanks to digitalization, medical approval times have been reduced by up to 75%, with an average approval time of under 10 minutes. This reflects AXA’s commitment to providing a seamless and efficient experience for its customers through continued investment in innovation and technology.
Omar Shelbaya, CEO of AXA Egypt, praised the partnership with Yodawy, which aligns with AXA’s strategy to deliver innovative insurance solutions using digitization. He stated: "AXA’s strategy focuses on digital transformation to improve operational efficiency and customer experience, with continuous support from the Financial Regulatory Authority, which has helped accelerate the pace of digital transformation."
Shelbaya added: "Since its presence in Egypt in 2015, AXA has been working on developing innovative insurance solutions that meet the diverse needs of its customers. We aim to expand digital services to cover all business areas by 2025, which is why we are activating various partnerships, such as our strategic partnership with Yodawy. This partnership is an important step toward offering our customers a fully digital insurance experience, as we seek to simplify processes, save time and effort, and improve the quality of services. We believe that investing in digital technology is the key to the future of insurance, and we will continue to develop innovative solutions that meet our customers’ evolving needs." Karim Khashaba, CEO of Yodawy, said: "We are proud of our partnership with AXA, which aligns with our strategy since its establishment in 2018. We aim to provide pharmacy benefit management solutions through digital integration between insurance companies and medical service providers, including hospitals, labs, radiology centers, pharmacies, and dental clinics, with the goal of offering customers a faster and more convenient service." Khashaba emphasized that Yodawy is betting on its leading role in the comprehensive digitization of Egypt’s healthcare system, in line with the nation's political directives and Egypt's Vision 2030, as guided by the President’s strategic vision. Last year, AXA signed a cooperation agreement with Yodawy, enabling AXA customers to manage their healthcare services easily, including medication requests and prescription management via MyAXA app. The range of services has also expanded to include electronic prescriptions, making it easier for customers to collect medications from accredited pharmacies. This initiative is part of AXA’s broader digital transformation efforts, as it works to digitize various operations, relying on information systems and email communications, alongside launching electronic business cards. AXA Egypt is proud to be the first insurance company to take this innovative step toward reducing paper waste.
